Born August 2nd 1962 the world wasn’t prepared for a giant such as Steve Murray. In 1984 Mr. Murray had graduated from Boston College with a degree in economics. Later Steve Murray earned his master’s degree in business administration from the Columbia Business School. Once his graduation was tucked under his hat Stephen Murray hit the ground running.
His first career venture was to become a part of the credit analyst training program at Manufacturers Hanover Company. Just 5 years later he would join MH Equity Corporation, this held the combination of Manufacturers Hanover’s private equity group with the leveraged finance group. Once Manufacturers Hanover changed hands a few times Stephen Murray would eventually find himself the head of ‘buy-out’ business at JP Morgan Partners.
According to Fortune, Stephen Murray later found himself on the board of many major companies that includes: Aramark, Generac Power Systems, and AMC Entertainment. Though through all of his lofty business ventures Steve Murray never forgot his fellow mankind.
Supporting worthy causes such as Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County Steve gave back to the community. Additionally he was a member on the chairman’s council of the Metro New York faction of the Make a Wish Foundation.
Some of the most recent seats on boards would include Crestcom International, Infogroup Inc., and the LHP Hospital Group. RyVoice reported that being a co-founder of CCMP Capital Stephen Murray’s investments and deal makings will always be remembered. The majority of his career being placed within private equity.
No one could have expected his untimely death at the age of 52 though many will remember the greatness that was Steve Murray.
